Cardcaptors aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami block from 2000 to 2001, a heavily edited English language adaptation of the Japanese magical girl anime Cardcaptor Sakura, reframed by its American distributors to lean more heavily into action adventure marketing than the original series had. Fans of the unedited Japanese version have long pointed to the changes as a notable example of how differently the same source material can be presented for different audiences.
