General Mills launched Fingos in 1993, a hexagon shaped cereal explicitly marketed to be eaten dry and by the handful rather than poured into a bowl with milk, positioning it more as a snack food than a traditional breakfast cereal. The unusual positioning confused shoppers who weren't sure where to file it in their pantry, and General Mills discontinued it within about a year as sales failed to take off.
