Hershey launched Bar None in 1987, layering chocolate wafers and peanuts into a candy bar that competed directly with Kit Kat and similar wafer based bars. It sold well enough to justify a mid run reformulation that added a caramel layer and split the bar into two pieces. Hershey discontinued it in 1997 despite a loyal fan base, and it remains one of the most consistently requested discontinued candy bars on online petitions.
