McDonald's Cheddar Melt

McDonald's first tested the Cheddar Melt in 1985 and rolled it out more widely by 1988, a beef patty topped with grilled onions and a cheddar cheese sauce served on a rye bun. Rather than becoming a permanent menu item, it kept reappearing as a limited time offer across multiple decades, resurfacing again in the early nineties, in 2004, and once more in 2014, never quite earning a permanent spot on the regular menu.
