The Big O aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami block from 1999 to 2003, a Japanese anime blending film noir detective storytelling with giant robot mecha action, following a negotiator named Roger Smith who pilots a massive android called Big O to protect the amnesiac city of Paradigm City. Its stylish, Batman inspired visual influences and moody atmosphere made it a standout among Toonami's more straightforward action heavy anime lineup.
